Dr. J.Arumugam, M.Sc., M.B.A., HDCA., M.A. NET, PGDHRM.,PGDPMIR., PhD is working as Librarian, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore . Having experienced in Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Chennai. Anna Centenary Library , Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Chennai and Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He holds M.Sc., in Information Science from the University of Madras, He has awarded with Dr.S.R.Ranganathan Endowment Prize and Librarian P. Kalyanasundaram Endowment Prize for the first rank in the University level. He has completed his Under graduation in St.Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai and post-graduation in Information Science and Management in University of Madras. He has published 3 Books, 8 Book Chapters, 7 Edited Conference books, 39 journal articles and 165 conference papers in various National and International conferences /seminars. He has received 9 Best paper Awards in National and International Conference papers. He is Awarded with Best Young Librarian Award, National Best Librarian Award, Best Outstanding Researcher Award by various professional Societies such as SALIS, MALA, ALA and TLA. He has visited Japan in 2008 as a University nominee for the purpose of “Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths Programme”. (University Student Exchange program-ICOM). Recently he has traveled to Srilanka to conduct a research workshop at University of Kelaniya, Colombo. He has delivered 284 invited talks, Guest Lectures, organized National seminars/ Conferences and conducted several workshops on KOHA,DSPACE, Wordpress, Drupal& Joomla. He is a trainer for the Ramakrishna Mutt for their extensive education projects and serves as a consultant for the several college libraries infrastructure and its resources selection. Currently he is holding the position of Joint Secretary for SALIS Governing Council and also the member of professional societies such as MALA & TLA. He is also the Joint Secretary of NBF (Nammadhu Bharatham Foundation). He is a specialized trainer for the skill development, soft skill training. His areas of interest are Open source tools and techniques, Information retrieval system and content management systems, Scientometrics. He is very enthusiastic and proactive in creating information products by using the open source tools and deliberate to work in LIS software developments. He is ambitious to develop the dynamic society with the ICT skill sets.
