About
Rakhesh Singh Kshetrimayum (Senior Member, IEEE; Fellow, IET) completed his Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (2000), a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2005), and a Professional Certificate in Data Science at Harvard University, USA (2025). Following an initial corporate tenure at Mphasis, Pune (2000–2001), and research appointments at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (2004–2005), and Pennsylvania State University, USA (2005), he joined the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, in 2005, where he has held the rank of Professor since 2017. He additionally served as Head of the Centre for Career Development from 2018 to 2020.
His current research interests encompass artificial intelligence/machine learning, flexible electronics, and liquid/dielectric antennas for 6G applications. He has been consecutively featured on the prestigious Stanford University and Elsevier list of the world's top 2% scientists since 2020. His scholarly contributions include four books and over 170 peer-reviewed publications. According to ScholarGPS, he ranks 7,750th globally (top 0.67%) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), with specialized rankings in Monopole Antennas (9th), Split-Ring Resonators (44th), Band-Pass Filters (166th), Antennas (407th), Slot Antennas (659th), etc. His intellectual property portfolio comprises nine granted patents—specializing in ultra-thin conformal filters, stacked single/multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs), and ultra-thin MIMO filtennas—alongside five pending patent applications. His accolades include the Nanyang Technological University Research Scholarship (2001), the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Fast Track Young Scientist Award (2007), and multiple best paper/best student paper awards for his co-authored papers, including the IEEE International RF and Microwave Conference (RFM) 2025 and the IEEE International Conference on Advanced Networks and Telecommunications Systems (ANTS) 2017 (Third Prize). In the area of professional service, he functions as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation (since 2021), formerly served as an Editor for IEEE Communications Letters (2021–2023), and has been repeatedly recognized as a Reviewer with Distinction or Special Distinction by the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques (2024, 2025) and the IEEE Microwave and Wireless Technology Letters (2022, 2024). Additionally, he has delivered numerous invited talks and tutorials at flagship international conferences, including the IEEE Texas Symposium, and served as General Chair for the National Conference on Communications (NCC) 2023.
