About
Dr. Gyana Ranjan Tripathy (he/him) is an Associate Professor in the Earth and Climate Science department, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune, India. He is an experimental geochemist, and currently leads the Geochemical Research for Aquatic and Sedimentary (GRASP) group at IISER Pune. His researches mainly focus on understanding and quantifying low-temperature aquatic geochemical processes, which includes silicate weathering and sulfide oxidation in river basins, coastal cycling of trace elements, and Re-Os geochronology of organic-rich sedimentary rocks. He completed his PhD in 2011 from Physical Research Laboratory, India, and had a post-doctoral stint at Colorado state University, USA. He is actively involved in teaching, and generally teaches Isotope geochemistry, Atmosphere and Ocean chemistry, and Analytical geochemistry lab courses to undergraduate students. He has received several awards (INSA young scientist, Young Associate of Indian Academy of Sciences and DST-INSPIRE Faculty award) and also, serves as an Associate editor of the Aquatic geochemistry journal.
