Dr. Vishnu Vijay Kumar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Higher College of Technology, UAE. He served as a researcher at New York University, Abu Dhabi. His academic journey includes roles as an Assistant Professor at Jain University's International Institute of
Aerospace Engineering and Management in India, and as a Senior Researcher at the Indian Institute of
Technology Madras. His educational background is impressive, having completed a Joint Doctorate from
the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (NIFR rank:1) and the world-renowned
Nanotechnology and Sustainability initiative at the National University of Singapore (QS rank - 8,
2024). His academic pursuits have taken him to various institutions globally, including research
Internships at the University of Luxembourg and collaborative work at Singapore's A*STAR. He has
held visiting faculty positions at the University of Gadjah Mada in Indonesia, the University of Calicut,
Kalam Technological University in India, and currently serves as a Visiting Professor at JCET and
NCERC Universities in India.
His research interests span a broad spectrum, encompassing Artificial
Intelligence, Additive Manufacturing, Nanomaterials, Machine Learning, Composites, Sustainability,
and Energy. Dr. Kumar is affiliated with numerous prestigious international organizations,
including ASME, ASCE, ACS, ACers, APS, IES, RINA, and IMarEST. He also contributes to
academia through his editorial board memberships in various peer-reviewed journals.
His academic excellence is evident from his gold medals and first-rank achievements in both
his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering. His professional experience straddles
both industry and academia, with projects conducted at strategically important institutions like the
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Cochin
Refineries, and Steel Industries Limited Kerala in India. Following the completion of his bachelor's
degree, Dr. Kumar embarked on his professional journey with two initial roles. He served as a graduate
engineer at Classic Spices in India, gaining valuable industry experience in his home country.
Subsequently, he expanded his international exposure by taking on the position of manufacturing
engineer at UCIC in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. These early career experiences in both domestic and
international settings provided him with a diverse foundation in engineering applications across different
cultural and industrial contexts. His research has been published in reputable journals, accumulating
over 600 citations since 2022. Dr. Kumar's contributions have been recognized through
numerous awards and scholarships, including the Institute Research Award for Research
Excellence from IIT Madras (2023), the Distinguished Alumnus Award from JCET (2021),
Metals Highly Cited Paper Awards from MDPI (2021, 2022), Best Paper Award from
IEEE USA Photonic Society (2022), Best Oral Presentation Award at RAMAN
(2022), IITMM Alumni Travel Grants (2020 & 2021), a scholarship from Luxembourg's
Ministry of Foreign & European Affairs (2019-2020), the NUS Strategic India Initiatives Award
(2018-2020), and the Nehru Vigyan Award (2013), among others.
