About

Born in a small coastal town in Kerala, South India. Schooling was done in regional language (mother tongue, Malayalam). After Successful completion of junior-level schooling of 10 years duration, higher secondary, Pre-Degree, was done in D B College, Thalayolaparambu. Joined for UG course of 5-year duration in Cochin University. After successful completion with a good first class, I was attracted by a ship repair workshop in Madras Harbour and joined as a management trainee. Later joined the Department of Ocean Engineering as Senior Project Officer after working in the Ship Repair unit of the metropolitan city, called Madras then, for six months. Completed MS parallelly along with the duties of Senior Project Officer. DRDO attracted me for Naval Research and joined NSTL, Visakhapatnam as Scientist B and subsequently promoted to Scientist C. Asia's biggest facility in its kind was built along with German engineers. The high-speed towing tank of length 500m. I was the lead engineer in fabrication, erection, installation, and towing carriage and overhead conductors. It was a challenge to complete the massive job in record time motivating the group consisted of skilled, even unskilled, and semi-skilled technicians. Model making workshop was headed by me. A few trial runs of ship models were done in the tank.
Yokohama National University attracted me with the support of prestigious "Monbusho Scholarship" to do research and then Ph D with the financial support of Japanese Govt. Dynamics of marine towing and maneuvering was the topic for research under a veteran Pr, Yoshiyukioue wh,o had long years of experience in IHI, Japan. Became fluent in spoken Japanese.
Wanted to serve the country and joined as a Visiting Scientist in NIOT, functioned in the IIT Campus. After serving a year or so, the Department of Ocean Engineering offered a position for Assistant Professor. Then onwards started teaching and doing research. As of today, I have guided 9 MS by research students and 6 Ph Ds. I could publish roughly more than 100 technical papers and many project reports. I am one of the founding members and continuing as the Member of the Editorial Board of Journal Of ships and Offshore structures, published by Taylor and Francis. I have been invited by Pusan National University two times, each one-year duration, with the support of the South Korean govt. for their Brain Pool Program. I am in touch with the leading Asian partners in Ocean Engineering. Osaka University, Dhaka University, Australian Maritime University, etc are some of them. I do have a network with the leading peers in the fields and the well-known technocrats on the planet.
Now enjoying teaching, research, and publications that are continuously reinforced by consultancy works offered to the needy Industrialists and Govt. agencies. Accept review jobs for reputed Journals of high impact factor. Contributor to leading Journals mainly in the form of publication and review etc. The latest project is the design and building of half a dozen boats for the National Health Mission, the Government of Odisha, and also the installation of 60 floating Jetties with walkways. It is just completed for Inland Water Transport Dept. of Odisha Govt.
