About
I am working on two different aspects of environmental issues i.e. Nanotoxicology (toxicity, tumorogenesis and health hazards) and Nanotechnology (pharmacological aspects and cancer treatment with nanoparticles). Presently I am working on the mechanism of cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of Titanium dioxide nanoparticles in invitro and in vivo exposure. I concluded from our research with number of studies that TiO2 nanoparticles has hazardous effects on kidney, liver and brain mainly confirmed with various biomarkers (liver function assay, kidney function assay, oxidative stress markers, apoptosis, DNA strand break, micronuclei and many more). I have studied the comparative toxicity of TiO2 and TiSiO4 nanoparticles in HEK-293 cells and found that TiSiO4 were less toxic and can replace the TiO2 nanoparticle applications.
I have sound expertise in cancer research and developmental biology. As a pharmacological, I used hydroxyapatite (Hap) nanoparticles as a drug to evaluate the effect on human breast cancer cells and also quantify anti-proliferation and p53 protein expression in cancerous cells. It has been found to have obvious inhibitory function on growth of many kinds of tumor cells, and nanoparticle has stronger anti-tumor effect than macromolecule microparticles.
I am interested to implement HAP NPs conjugated with DOX (Chemotherapeutic drugs) and coated with polymer as a targeted drug delivery for slow drug release in vitro and in vivo studies. I have published paper on Effects of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles on proliferation and apoptosis of human breast cancer cells (MCF-7). This is also my interest to develop new criteria of therapeutic impact on affected cells.
