Dr Istiyakhusen A Chauhan: A Dedicated Educationist and Scientist in Dairy Engineering

Dr I A Chauhan is an accomplished educationist and scientist with expertise in Dairy Engineering and over 13 years of experience in teaching, research, and extension. Holding a B. Tech. in Dairy Technology, an M. Tech. in Dairy Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Dairy Engineering, Dr. I A Chauhan has dedicated a significant part of their career to advancing the field of dairy science at the prestigious SMC College of Dairy Science, Anand.

As an educator, Dr. I A Chauhan has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, specializing in subjects such as refrigeration and air conditioning, fluid mechanics, dairy engineering, and dairy plant maintenance. Their passion for teaching and mentoring has guided numerous students toward excellence in dairy science and engineering.

In addition to their teaching role, Dr. I A Chauhan has been actively engaged in cutting-edge research. Some of the key areas of their research include:

Development of a solar-based incubation room for fermented dairy products
Ohmic heating for enhanced food processing
Extending the shelf life of dairy products like kheer and paneer using retort technology
Mechanized manufacture of burfi, a popular Indian dairy sweet
Dr. I A Chauhan has also been instrumental in promoting innovations through extension activities. They have participated in agricultural fairs, showcasing the latest technologies developed at the university, helping farmers and industry professionals understand and adopt advanced techniques in dairy production and processing.
