Dr. N. Rajendra Prasad is a Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Annamalai University, with over 23 years of experience in the field of Cancer Biology. Recognized among the top 2% of scientists globally, according to the Stanford University ranking, Dr. Prasad is known for his impactful research and contributions to the scientific community.
Dr. Prasad received advanced research training at the prestigious Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute (AFRRI) in the USA and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA. This training has provided him with expertise in cutting-edge research methodologies, particularly in radiobiology and cancer therapeutics.
His research focuses on investigating natural medicinal compounds to overcome ABC-transporter-mediated multidrug resistance in cancer cells. Dr. Prasad aims to develop predictive assay systems that identify the most effective chemotherapeutic drugs for individual patients, thereby advancing the field of personalized cancer therapy. Additionally, he studies the signal transduction events triggered by ionizing and non-ionizing radiations in human cells, offering valuable insights into the effects of radiation on cancer treatment.
Dr. Prasad has received substantial research grants from renowned funding agencies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Department of Science and Technology - Science and Engineering Research Board (DST-SERB), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).
