About
Dr. Shreya Roy is an experimental nuclear and hadron physicist working on the exploration of strongly interacting matter at high baryon densities within the Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) experiment at FAIR. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung and affiliated with Universität Heidelberg.
Her research focuses on rare probes and exclusive reactions in proton–proton and heavy-ion collisions, including studies of hyperon spectroscopy, exotic hadrons, and dilepton production to access the electromagnetic structure of hadrons. She has developed feasibility studies for several exclusive channels at CBM, such as pp → pp J/ψ and pp → pK⁺Λ(1520), and is actively contributing to the development of a hadron-physics program at FAIR.
Dr. Roy has significant expertise in detector development, simulation, and reconstruction, particularly within the CBMROOT framework. She is leading the development of the Muon Straw Tracker (MUST) for the CBM MuCh system, focusing on detector integration, performance studies, and tracking capabilities. Her work also includes time-based simulation and event building, contributing to the reconstruction strategy of the CBM experiment.
Previously, she contributed to the LHCb experiment at CERN on tracking performance and flavour tagging, and to the SHADOWS experiment at CERN SPS, where she developed detector simulations and performed sensitivity studies for new physics searches.
