About
I am Chandra Shekhar Maurya, currently a National Postdoctoral Fellow (N-PDF) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, since November 2025. Prior to this, I worked as a Research Associate (RA-III) at IISc from July 2024 to October 2025. I also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay from January 2023 to June 2024.
I obtained my Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, India, under the supervision of Dr. Chiranjit Sarkar and Dr. Sandip Khan. I successfully defended my thesis on September 8, 2022. My doctoral research, titled “Study of Magneto-induced Rheological and Viscoelastic Properties of Highly Stable Water-Based Magnetorheological Fluids,” focused on advancing the fundamental understanding and stability of magnetorheological systems.
I am a recipient of the National Postdoctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) 2025 awarded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), with a grant of Rs. 30.96 lakh for the period November 2025 to October 2027. As Principal Investigator, my current research focuses on magneto-responsive functional materials, particularly the development of magnetically guided drug delivery systems and magnetic hyperthermia. My work integrates rheology, multiphysics modeling, and advanced experimental characterization to design and optimize smart materials for biomedical and engineering applications.
During my Ph.D., I conceptualized and secured funding from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), India, for the project titled “Design of a Hybrid Magnetorheometer for Characterizing Rheological and Tribological Properties of Nano Iron Particle-Based MR Fluids.” I have been recognized for my contributions with the Best Paper Award in Materials and Characterization and the Best Technical Session Award at the ICFAMMT 2022 conference.
My research interests include magneto-responsive materials, rheology of complex fluids, multiphysics modeling, magnetohydrodynamics, and magnetically guided drug delivery, along with computational fluid dynamics (CFD), hemodynamics, microfluidics, soot particle dynamics, molecular dynamics simulations, magnetic 3D printing, and advanced material synthesis and characterization.
