Dr Kathryn Hummel is a Visiting Associate Professor with the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani, KK Birla Goa campus. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences (Communication and Information Studies) from the University of South Australia and undergraduate degrees in English and Gender Studies from the University of Adelaide. Her research sits at the intersection of ethnography, cultural studies and the arts, informed by her creative practice and industry experience. The author of a long list of creative/scholarly works across disciplines and media, her latest book of poems is 'Lamentville' (Math Paper Press 2019) and her narrative ethnography 'Udbheda: Details of Bangladesh Life & Adda' was released in January 2025 (Vernon Press).
