About
Dr. Dileep Kumar Gupta received his Graduation and Master in Electronics from CSJM University,
Kanpur, India in 2007 and 2009, respectively. He is completed his Doctoral degree with Indian
Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India in 2017. His thesis entitled on
‘Estimation of crop growth variables and soil moisture by microwave remote sensing using artificial
neural networks’. Dr. Gupta has qualified prestigious national-level examinations, including the
National Eligibility Test (NET) in Electronic Science conducted by the UGC, New Delhi, and the
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) in ECE, conducted by the MHRD, Government of
India. He has received the International Travel Support (ITS) from DST, India for attending
conference at Japan. He has taught at both UG and PG levels, serving as Assistant Professor at Sri
Aurobindo College, University of Delhi, and DAV (PG) College, Kanpur. He also contributed as a
Research Associate under the ISRO RESPOND scheme, funded by the Department of Space,
Government of India. Dr. Gupta was awarded the prestigious Dr. D.S. Kothari Postdoctoral
Fellowship, funded by the UGC. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant Professor (Grade-II) at
Galgotias University, Greater Noida. With over seven years of experience in teaching and research,
Dr. Gupta is a dedicated academician and an active researcher.
Dr. Gupta research interests lie in the fields of Earth Observation and Space Sciences, with a strong
specialization in multi-sensor remote sensing and climate data processing. He is proficient in the
application of Geo-Informatics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning for environmental and
agricultural analysis. Dr. Gupta has expertise in soil moisture retrieval using both active and passive
microwave remote sensing, including monostatic and bistatic radar measurements for vegetation and
soil monitoring. He is also engaged in agricultural remote sensing, crop classification using optical,
infrared, microwave sensors through vegetation indices. His research extends to atmospheric and
aerosol studies, cryosphere monitoring, and the assessment of climate change impacts on agriculture.
He actively works on SAR data processing and model development for biophysical retrievals and soil
moisture mapping, particularly for NISAR mission applications. Additionally, he is experienced in
NWP modeling using the WRF model, integrating physical models with AI techniques to enhance the
understanding of climatic and environmental systems.
He has published more than 80 research articles in reputed international journals, conference
proceedings, and edited volumes. He served as a Guest Editor for the prestigious journal MDPI
Sensors, leading the special issue titled "Spaceborne Radar Remote Sensing of Agricultural Canopies
and Soil Moisture." In addition, he has edited four books published by leading academic publishers,
including Elsevier and Taylor & Francis. Dr. Gupta is also an active peer reviewer for several high-
impact journals from publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, and Taylor & Francis, contributing to the
scientific community through both editorial and scholarly engagements.
