About
Passed out B. Sc. (Physics Honors, Calcutta University) from Ramkrishna Mission Vidyamandir, Belurmath and M. Sc. (Physics) from Science College, Calcutta University, West Bengal. Subsequently, joined the prestigious Training School Program of Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai in 1988. On completion of the training at BARC, chose to carry forward my research career in Materials Science Group of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu and received Ph. D. (Physics) from University of Madras, Chennai. Self is pursuing and guiding related research programs and development works for about three decades; presently leading the group as Head, Ion Beam Physics Laboratory of Materials Science Group, IGCAR.
Areas of research interests:
1. Synthesis (equilibrium and non-equilibrium techniques) and characterizations of metal/compound semiconductors
2. Optical, structural and photoluminescence properties of thin film materials; applications in non-linear optical devices, plasmonics and solar energy harvesting
3. Effects of quantum confinements enhancing light and matter interactions in metal/semiconductor hybrid materials
4. Vibrational (phonon) properties of nanomaterials
