Dr. Sur is currently working as an Associate Professor and DBT-Ramalingaswami re-entry Fellow in Dr. D Y Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, Dr. D Y Patil Vidyapeeth (DPU), Pune, India. He was scientist-in-charge in the animal facility, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, India from April- 2022- November 2022. He completed his Ph.D. from Calcutta University, Kolkata in molecular cancer biology in 2016. Then he did his post-doctoral work at Saint Louis University, USA from 2017- 2022. His research work was focused on
A) Molecular mechanism of cancer: an exploration of the new field of non-coding RNA
B) Cancer diagnostic study in patient samples
C) Cancer prevention by natural compounds: an alternative approach
D) Hepatitis C virus (HCV) pathogenesis
E) SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis in COVID-19 patients
He has many publications in International Peer-Reviewed Journals. He is also a member of the Society of Biological Chemists (SBC-India) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and a reviewer of many international Peer-Reviewed Journals.
Dr. Sur is supported by two prestigious extramural grants:
(1) Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
(2) Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant (PM-ECRG) awarded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), India.
-These projects aim to uncover novel molecular mechanisms and therapeutic targets in head and neck malignancies, contributing to the development of more effective diagnostics and treatments.
