About
I am Sanjoy Kumar Pal, a physicist and educator from West Bengal, India, with a strong commitment to innovative physics education, experimental research, and space weather studies. My work focuses on developing simple, low-cost, technology-enabled experiments that connect theoretical concepts with hands-on investigation and promote inquiry-driven learning.
My research interests include physics education, smartphone-based experimental physics, space weather, and ionospheric studies. I actively engage with the professional physics community through organisations including the American Physical Society (APS), American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT), Institute of Astronomy Space and Earth Science (IASES), and Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT).
My professional journey has been enriched by participation in several national and international programmes and workshops, including the Physics and Astronomy Olympiad Exposure Camps at HBCSE–TIFR, the Pedagogy Innovation Workshop at IIT Kharagpur, the Junior Science Olympiad Exposure Camp at IAPT–JSO, Bengaluru, and the JBNSTS–WBDSTBT Science Teachers’ Training Programme. A significant milestone was my selection for the CERN High School Teacher Programme (HST2025) in Geneva, which provided valuable international exposure to contemporary particle physics and physics education.
I also participated in ICPE–2025, the International Conference on Physics Education, organised under the auspices of IUPAP and hosted by IIT Ropar, providing an opportunity for professional exchange with physics educators and researchers from across the world. My experience also includes academic mentoring through the TLC Mentorship Programme under DELNet at IIT Kharagpur.
My long-term goal is to contribute to physics education through innovative pedagogy, accessible experimental approaches, and effective integration of technology, while advancing research in space weather and ionospheric science.
