About
Trained neuroscientist with a PhD in Neurology (Stroke genetics and blood based biomarkers for prediction of clinical outcomes) from AIIMS, New Delhi, India. A strong expertise in molecular, cellular, and translational research, along with an integrated experience in evidence-based methodology and neuroepidemiology.
Since 2020, at Johns Hopkins University, I have established a virus-free, non-integrating human-iPSC biobank. I have been optimizing protocols to generate 2D neurons, glial cells, and 3D brain organoids (cortical and hindbrain), along with their secreted extracellular vesicles (EVs) from patients with Alzheimer’s disease and healthy controls. As part of the Richman Family Precision Medicine Center of Excellence in Alzheimer’s Disease (PMCoE-AD), I am applying a multi-omics approach (including transcriptomics, lipidomics, and proteomics) with immunocytochemistry and immunoassays to identify the disease pathogenesis, novel biomarkers, and therapeutic targets, to improve precision medicine for Alzheimer’s and other neurological conditions.
During my PhD, I contributed to several large, multi-center studies, including a GWAS for genetic risk factors in Indian stroke populations and a prospective cohort study on intracerebral hemorrhage to identify prognostic biomarkers for short and long-term clinical outcomes. My work at AIIMS was integrated with clinical neurology, as I spent over seven years actively involved in outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and laboratory settings. This combination of clinical exposure and biological research has shaped my approach to translational neuroscience.
