I have completed my Ph.D. at Oklahoma State University, in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
I am presently working as a R&D scientist in Big River Steel a US steel co. During my PhD. I worked on Thin film deposition of ceramic/ metallic films on various substrates that include Strontium titanate, C-sapphire, and Carbon via PLD (Pulsed Laser Deposition). These thin films are further tailored using Laser to understand the physics of defect formation and its applications in Semi-conductor industries. The defects analysis is being performed through high-resolution transmission electron microscopes (HRTEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), and atom probe tomography (APT) at ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratories) and Oklahoma State Microscopy Laboratory (OSML).
Earlier I had worked on multiple projects that include "Fabrication of Nano-composite materials via hot press and SPS (Spark Plasma Sintering). These composites were tested through various mechanical tests such as nanoindentation, Vicker's hardness, and shear punch tests, etc. The structure-property correlations were made through careful investigation of TEM and STEM studies. In my undergrad internships, I worked on projects that involved reinforcement of carbon-nanotube (CNT) in Epoxy resin", under the supervision of Dr. S. Kanagraj (Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati) as a summer trainee. During my research training, I made a nano-composite (CNT with Epoxy resin ) & found that the thermal conductivity of this composite has been increased several folds in comparison to epoxy resin alone. In my view, this composite can be used as a covering material for space launchers & aircraft, due to high thermal conductivity, (this can be extremely beneficial in extracting extra heat from the main system). Then in my winter project also done in IIT Guwahati in advancement in welding technology under the guidance of Dr. Pankaj Biswas where I made a simulation program in code-block which could tell the temperature variation at various points of 3d Gaussian cylinder which is rotating at an angular velocity omega under Plasma Arc Welding & received an excellence certificate.
