ANJAN ROY
Centurion University of Technology and Management, Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya
About
Dr. Anjan Roy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at M.S. Swaminathan School of Agriculture, Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM), Paralakhemundi, Odisha.
He earned his Ph.D. (Ag.) from Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya (UBKV), West Bengal in 2023. His doctoral thesis focused on "Screening of Lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus) germplasm for resistance against Stemphylium blight and study on gene action." His M.Sc. (Ag.) was also from UBKV (2018) and B.Sc. (Ag.) from C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur (2016).
His research integrates classical plant breeding with cutting-edge genomics. Current work focuses on salinity and blast resistance in rice through gene pyramiding (Saltol, OsHKT1;5 and ERF922) using MAS and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, and drought tolerance and fruit borer resistance in okra through F2 mapping populations via QTL mapping. He has hands-on experience in CRISPR-Cas9-based gene editing, molecular characterization, and is proficient in Python, R, SPSS, OPSTAT, GENRES, and WINDOSTAT.
