About

Dr.P. Laxminarayana (PLN)
Dr.P. Laxminarayana (PLN) is the Professor and Director of NERTU, Osmania University. At present, his areas of research interest are Signal Processing, Communication and Navigation for Development of Real Time GNSS software Receivers, Integration of GNSS with other Navigation systems for Autonomous Navigation, Speech technologies, Instruments for Biotech Industries. He is passionate about industry-institute interaction and start-ups.
He has been working in the area of GNSS signal processing for the last two decades. He has guided several BE/BTech/ME/MTech students for their dissertations in the area of GNSS. At present two PhD students are working in the area of Development of Real GNSS Time Software Receivers running on PC/Laptop with MATLAB or C/C++ platform and GNSS/INS integration. Development of IRNSS receivers and its applications is their main thrust area. They have already developed the IRNSS software receiver running on normal PC in real time using RTL-SDR RF front-end. At present they are having the complete software receiver solution for GPS L1 C/A, GLONASS L1(C/A), IRNSS L5 and S (C/A) in matlab and C/C++. They are also planning to develop GPS L1C, GPS L2C, Galileo and Beidou Software receivers. He has conducted more than 30 short term courses/workshops and schools in the area of GNSS for scientists, engineers, academicians and students, as coordinator cum faculty member.
At present he is executing a CRL-BELsponsored project “ Development of Real GNSS software receiver Algorithms“. Recently he has completed one ISRO sponsored R & D project “Speech-To-Speech Interface for Man-machine Communication for Humanoid of Gaganyaan” and another IISU-ISRO sponsored Transfer of Technology project “Man-Machine Communication Using Speech Technologies”. Earlier he has Executed Seven sponsored and Seven Consultancy projects from public and Private Organizations as Principal investigator and co- investigator. Established and lead a 15-member team of “DSP and Audio Processing Technology” group at Hyderabad Development Centre (HDC) of Analog Devices Inc.(ADI) during 2003-2005. After returning from ADI to OU, ADI has funded to establish a Multimedia and ADSPs laboratory at Osmania University. Later, he was also consultant to ADI and Lantiq Communications India Pvt. Ltd. Two groups of students/alumni members of OU are working in collaboration with him to develop new products with two start-ups in the areas in Speech Technologies and Instruments for Biotechnology industries.
