About

My research philosophy is driven by the passion to uncover the mechanisms underlying complex biological processes, with a focus on molecular and cellular microbiology. My extensive postdoctoral studies have equipped me with a diverse skill set, ranging from studying host-pathogen interactions with Mycobacterium tuberculosis to investigating antifungal drug resistance mechanisms and delving into the intricacies of the Helicobacter pylori type IV secretion system. In my research endeavors, I prioritize addressing critical scientific questions that have broader implications for public health and our understanding of microbial pathogenesis. My work on autophagy in controlling M. tuberculosis infection, coupled with an exploration of the countermechanisms exploited by M. tuberculosis, exemplifies my commitment to advancing our understanding of host-directed defense against microbial pathogens.

Moreover, my investigations into antifungal drug resistance, particularly the roles of efflux pumps and transcription factors, will contribute to the development of strategies to combat emerging challenges in the treatment of fungal infections. In my doctoral studies, I have made significant contributions to unraveling the complexities of the Helicobacter pylori type IV secretion system, shedding light on the inner membrane molecular ATPases and membrane complexes crucial for substrate translocation. I believe in fostering a collaborative research environment that encourages interdisciplinary approaches in which researchers from diverse backgrounds come together to address complex scientific questions. This collaborative spirit is essential for pushing knowledge boundaries and making breakthroughs in molecular microbiology.
