About

Dr. Bhuvanesh Srinivasan is an Assistant Professor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras since June 2022. Before joining IIT-Madras, Bhuvanesh was a JSPS postdoctoral fellow (2019 - 2022) at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan. At NIMS, he was hosted at the French-Japanese international platform, LINK, a joint research unit established in partnership between CNRS, Saint-Gobain, and NIMS. His research is focused on thermoelectric materials and devices for energy harvesting applications. He was one of the recipients of the "ICYS Promising Young Researcher Award" (for the year 2021), given by NIMS, Japan. Prior to his tenure at NIMS, he was a Marie-Curie Ph.D. fellow at the CNRS-University of Rennes 1, France (2015 - 2018). His Ph.D. thesis was on developing novel chalcogenide-based glasses and ceramics for thermoelectric application. He was also the recipient of "Bernard Coqblin Prize" by the French Thermoelectric Society (GIS-TE) for the best doctoral thesis in the field of thermoelectrics (for the year 2019). During his Ph.D., he has carried out secondment periods of a few months at Nanoforce Technology Ltd., Queen Mary University of London, U.K. He pursued his Erasmus Mundus Master's program in Materials Science (2013 - 2015) jointly from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU), Munich, Germany. During his Erasmus Mundus Masters, he spent a couple of mobility/exchange periods at ETH-Zurich (3 months) and EPFL-Lausanne (6 months), Switzerland. Bhuvanesh obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science (2009 - 2013) from the College of Engineering Guindy (CEG), Anna University, Chennai, India.
