Dr Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Senior Member IEEE, PhD in Electrical Engineering
Chandigarh University, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University
About
I am Dr. Kuldeep Singh Rathore, an academician and researcher in Electrical Engineering with over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. My primary research interests lie in Power Electronics, power converter design, control of electrical and energy systems, and the application of advanced simulation tools for electromagnetic and power electronic analysis. My work is driven by the goal of bridging theoretical rigor with practical, industry-relevant solutions in modern power and energy systems.
I began my academic career in 2011 as an Assistant Professor at Marudhar Engineering College, Bikaner, Rajasthan, where I developed a strong foundation in teaching core electrical engineering subjects and mentoring undergraduate students. During my early academic years, I cultivated a deep interest in power electronic systems and control strategies, which later shaped my postgraduate studies and doctoral research. The completion of my M.Tech and Ph.D. strengthened my research orientation, enabling me to integrate analytical modeling, simulation-based validation, and experimental perspectives into both teaching and research.
My doctoral research and subsequent scholarly activities have focused on power electronic converters, control techniques, and their applications in emerging electrical systems. I actively engage in supervising undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral research work, with an emphasis on problem formulation, simulation using modern tools, and publication-oriented outcomes. Several of my students have successfully completed research projects and published their findings in reputed journals and conferences under my guidance.
In 2020, I joined Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU), Haryana, as a Skill Assistant Professor, where I contributed to skill-based engineering education aligned with industrial requirements. This experience further strengthened my focus on the practical implementation of power electronics concepts, hands-on learning, and outcome-based education.
Since October 2021, I have been associated with Chandigarh University, Mohali, where I currently serve as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Alongside my academic responsibilities, I have held key administrative positions, including Academic Coordinator and Administrative Officer of multiple academic units. While managing these roles, I have remained actively involved in research supervision, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary academic planning, particularly in areas related to power electronics and electrical engineering education.
I actively contribute to the research community as a reviewer for reputed SCI-indexed journals, including publications from IET, Springer, and Inderscience, and have served as a paper setter and external examiner for postgraduate programs. I have also coordinated AICTE-approved Faculty Development Programs in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh, with a focus on advanced simulation platforms such as ANSYS-EM, supporting research-oriented teaching and high-quality scholarly output.
My professional objective is to advance research and education in Power Electronics and Electrical Engineering by integrating advanced modeling techniques, modern simulation tools, and outcome-based pedagogical practices. Through teaching, research supervision, and academic leadership, I strive to contribute meaningfully to the development of sustainable, efficient, and intelligent power electronic systems.
