I was born in India and obtained my Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry from University of Allahabad (www.allduniv.ac.in), Allahabad, India. I worked as a Research Associate in the Molecular Biophysics Unit of the Indian Institute of Science (http://mbu.iisc.ac.in), Bangalore, India, before my family and I moved to the United States in 1992 when I accepted a postdoctoral position in the Atherosclerosis Research Unit, Department of Medicine, UAB Medical Center, Birmingham, AL. My work experience includes biomedical research, working as a Special Projects Manager in a biotechnology company, and teaching Chemistry.
