"Molecular Dynamics of Vitamin D receptor Modulation by PUFAs"
The dynamics of wild-type or mutant vitamin D receptor (VDR) activation in the presence of various ligands in skeletal muscle are gaining attention. Despite variously reported gene mutations in VDR, single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were shown to be associated with metabolic health.
Elucidating of complementary roles of essential PUFAs in skeletal muscle VDR activation, glucose clearance, and insulin sensitivity and establishing the proof-of-concept for their potential modulatory role on VDR will enable alternate therapeutic strategies to circumvent patients with VDD or mutations in VDR. Thus, identifying the potential modulators of VDR in both insufficiency of agonist, vitamin D, or genetic mutations of VDR is considered a scientific advancement in combating VDD and T2DM-associated chronic diseases.
