About
Prof. (Dr.) Nayan Kamal Bhattacharyya has completed his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from Gauhati University in the year 1998. He has completed his Ph.D. degree on "Studies on Natural Terpenoids and their Chemical transformations" from Dibrugarh University in the year 2004 (He worked for his Ph.D. at CSIR - North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam). He was CSIR - SRF awardee during his Ph.D. work.
Presently he has been working as Controller of Examination at Assam Women's University (Established by the Assam Women’s University Act “XXII” of 2013 by the Government of Assam), Jorhat, Assam.
He was the former Associate Director (Student Affairs) (Dean-Student Affairs), Professor and Head in the Dept. of Chemistry, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) (Sikkim Manipal University), Sikkim. Moreover, he was also the Head, Alumni Engagement Cell, SMIT and President, SMIT Alumni Association. He was also the Chairperson of SMU Collaborations & International Affairs. He was the former Chairperson Admission of SMIT during 2013-16 and Deputy Chairperson Admission during 2012-13.
He was the recipient of "SMU Pride Award - Excellence in Teaching - 2019" from Sikkim Manipal University. He was also the recipient of "Faculty of the month award" of SMIT during January 2021.
