About
Dr. Gaurav Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and NSS Program Coordinator at Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida. His key focused on cyber safety, digital empowerment, and youth-led innovation.
He holds an M.Tech and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi), and has over six years of academic and research experience with 11 international publications in areas including: Sentiment Analysis, Recommendation Systems, Multi-Criteria Decision Support Systems, Machine Learning, Cybercrime Awareness and Prevention.
In terms of Research and Innovation, Dr. Kumar is currently leading field study-driven research to design machine learning models that assess cybercrime trends, user awareness levels, and the evolving nature of internet-based threats in India. This work includes questionnaire-based analysis, real-time training modules, and behavioral mapping.
In addition, he has launched an interdisciplinary R&D initiative on the Fox Nut (Makhana) Ecosystem, where he is supervising research on: AI-driven value chain optimization, Sustainable farming practices, Supply chain transparency & Policy-level recommendations for rural upliftment. This project is aligned with his vision of creating employment opportunities, supporting agricultural entrepreneurship, and building an inclusive innovation ecosystem for traditionally underserved regions like North Bihar.
In terms of Social Impact & Outreach- Dr. Kumar has delivered over 58 cyber awareness workshops, trained 85,000+ individuals, and developed a self-paced cyber safety training program. He serves as the Editor of Cyber Sanskar Magazine, a Hindi publication with 20+ editions, simplifying cybercrime case studies for public understanding.
He was selected as a Master Trainer by CDAC Noida under the ISEA Project Phase III (MeitY, Govt. of India) and nominated as a Cyber Ambassador by CDAC Hyderabad to deliver certified cyber safety workshops to educators, students, and government officials across the country.
Dr. Gaurav Kumar believes in the “learning by doing” pedagogy. Through his collaborations with NSS (National Service Scheme), he has proposed models to integrate community service with research-based learning, enabling youth participation in policy dialogues, digital transformation, and rural development.
His long-term vision is to Empower 10 lakh citizens with cyber safety knowledge, develop sustainable, tech-enabled ecosystems like the Makhana model, and bridge the gap of academia and grassroots innovation through community service.
