About

Dr. S. Balachandar graduated with honors from Periyar University with UG and PG in Chemistry. He was selected one among 40 students across India as an intern in a scientific program entitled "SUMMER TRAINING IN PHYSICS AND CHEMISTRY (STIPAC)" at IGCAR, KALPAKKAM, during his master's program. In addition, he had an opportunity to work with renowned Professor and Head Scientist, Dr. N. Sivaraman, (Former Director, Dean and Professor), Materials Chemistry and Metal Fuel Cycle Group, HBNI-IGCAR, KALPAKKAM in a project entitled "Supercritical Fluid Extraction of Uranyl Compounds" for his master's degree. Later, he joined as a Doctoral fellow under Dr. M. Dhandapani, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore (Bharathiar University). During his PhD, he got an opportunity to work with a reputed scientist and Professor, Dr. R. Chandrasekar, School of Chemistry, UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD, under UGC-NETWORKING as a Visiting Researcher. Furthermore he worked as MAHE Postdoc and as Research Associate (Post-PhD) under Reckitt Benckiser - an industry funded healthcare project which is implemented and executed at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (IoE), Manipal. During this period, he visited University of Miyazaki, Miyazaki, JAPAN as a Visiting Scientist funded by Japan Science and Technology (JST) under SAKURA SCIENCE EXCHANGE PROGRAM (SSP). Currently, he is serving as a AICTE Postdoc. He produced several research articles in the fields of computational chemistry, biomaterials, crystallography and food adulterant detection in well-reputed publishers including ACS, RSC, Elsevier, Wiley, Taylor, and Francis. He is also a reviewer in RSC, ACS and Elsevier journals.
His areas of research interest include the synthesis of organic small molecules, the development of colorimetric assays, supramolecular chemistry, adulteration detection, and the fabrication of cellulose-based analytical devices. His proactive involvement in maximizing research outputs to application-based results.
