About
I am currently working as a Scientist in the Biotechnology group at RISE Processum, Ö-vik, Sweden. I currently focused on Next Generation Proteins in the form of Single Cell Protein and valorisation of biomass from different residual streams.
I was awarded my Ph.D. in Microbiology in 2011, and I have ten years of research experience as postdoctoral fellow (2012-2016 at Rhodes University) and researcher 2016-2022 at Lund University).
I have extensive research experience in the field of hemicellulose extraction & compositional analysis of biomass, enzymatic conversion of hemicellulose into prebiotics, cultivation of anaerobes, gene expression analysis (qRT-PCR), analysis of carbohydrates using HPAEC-PAD, short-chain fatty acid analysis using HPLC and structural studies.
Over the years I have gained experience in using various analytical procedures (HPAEC-PAD, HPLC, TLC, MALDI-TOF-MS, SPR and others), understanding of bioinformatics, proficiency in molecular cloning, expression and purification, expertise in cellulolytic/hemicellulolytic enzymes, production and valorization of xylo-oligomers/manno-oligomers as prebiotics and efficient handling of anaerobic and aerobic microbial cultures.
Research Interest:
1. Next Generation Protein as single cell proteins and Alternate proteins as feed and food.
2. Cultivation of anaerobes with a focus on gut microbiota, gene expression analysis (qRT-PCR), and molecular biology of gut microbiota and infectious microbes.
3. Designing customized enzyme cocktails: to determine the minimum number of enzymes required for maximum hydrolysis of a particular lignocellulosic substrate, based on the secretome/proteome analysis of bacterial strains.
4. Novel approach to enzyme synergy through designing of custom based substrate specific cocktails and through carrier free immobilization (cross-linked enzyme aggregates-CLEAs) of enzymes using magnetite-combi-CLEAs.
