About

I have been fascinated with science and mathematics since my early childhood, but a pivotal shift toward biology and biotechnology occurred during my high school years. In my 12th-grade CBSE biology course, the chapters on Biotechnology and its application captured my imagination. These chapters introduced the remarkable potential of biotechnology to modify genetic traits and brought me closer to the exciting world of DNA and genetic engineering. This experience ignited a curiosity about the real-world applications of biotechnology, particularly the transformative potential to harness the diversity of life for solving complex biological challenges.
This passion became a defining aspect of my academic and professional journey. The work during my PhD focused on the emerging field of DNA nanotechnology—a discipline dedicated to designing, synthesizing, and studying DNA-based nanostructures for advanced biomedical applications. Herein, our interests centred around designing customizable 3D DNA nanostructures that could serve as targeted drug delivery vehicles and therapeutic agents. Our work explores three key areas within DNA nanotechnology:
1. Designing 3D DNA nanostructures: My enthusiasm for the fabrication of intricate 3D DNA nanostructures that are designed for stability and adaptability is aimed at their potential use in a variety of applications, including the direct delivery of medications to specific cellular targets and the function as scaffolds for molecular sensors.
2. Biocompatibility: Ensuring these nanostructures are biocompatible is essential for their potential use in clinical settings. Our research delves into the interactions of these structures with cellular proteins, working to confirm that they are both safe and functional in diverse biological environments.
3. Interaction and application of DNA nanostructures: We investigate how DNA nanostructures interact at the molecular level with cellular and extracellular proteins, providing insights into their stability, effectiveness, and potential as therapeutic agents.
Our work represents a significant step in nanotechnology, aiming to advance DNA nanostructures from the lab into practical, real-world solutions. Our contributions to DNA nanotechnology aim to impact fields such as drug delivery, diagnostics, and molecular therapy, supporting the next generation of biocompatible and highly targeted treatments for various biomedical applications. I am dedicated to unleashing DNA-based nanostructures' transformative potential in biotechnology and biomedicine.
