About
I am a Scientist at the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, with extensive experience in the fields of microbial genomics, metagenomics, and bioinformatics. My research is driven by a deep interest in the human microbiome, specifically the characterization of the Indian microbial signature and its implications for health and disease.
My work encompasses both fundamental and applied research. I have been actively involved in projects ranging from the study of Indian Human Microbiome Initiative, gut-brain axis interactions, celiac disease and oxalate-metabolizing bacteria to the development of precision probiotics tailored to specific Indian gut enterotypes. As a lead researcher on the "Biofoundry" project, I am also committed to bridging academia and industry to scale up bioprocesses for the production of industrially relevant molecules.
My career trajectory has been defined by a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing advanced computational tools to analyze complex multi-meta-omic datasets. I am passionate about understanding the biological mechanisms of human microbiome in public health. Beyond my research at NCCS, I am actively engaged in the global scientific community, participating in international symposia and fostering collaborative efforts to translate microbial discoveries into practical health solutions.
