About
Currently I am working on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiac calcification with a goal to find therapeutic targets to prevent deposition of calcium in cardiovascular system. Calcification is known to occur through an active bone forming mechanism, however little is known about the cells contributing this process in an adult heart. Using murine models of calcification and genetically labelled transgenic mice, I am delineating the potential progenitors contributing to this process and mechanisms driving these progenitors to adopt an osteoblast (calcium forming cell) fate.
