Dr. K.G. Gopchandran is currently working as Adjunct Professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Technology, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram. Formerly at the University of Kerala, he worked in various capacities as Dean, Faculty of Applied Sciences & Technology, Director of the School of Technology, and Professor and Head of the Department of Optoelectronics. He was also a member of the Syndicate of the University of Kerala during 2019-2026 and a member of the Governing Council of the Kerala State Higher Education Council during 2014-16.
He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (London) in 2021. Dr. Gopchandran's primary research interests lie in Information Technology and Nanophotonics. He has reviewed papers for over 45 prestigious journals, including Nature Communications and Scientific Reports from the Nature Group, as well as journals published by ACS, RSC, Elsevier, and Springer. With around 125 journal publications, his work has garnered over 5,200 citations, earning him an h-index of 36.
Dr. Gopchandran has mentored eight Post-Doctoral Fellows and guided 23 Ph.D. candidates in Optoelectronics to successful completion. Additionally, he has supervised 48 M.Phil dissertations.
