About
Dr. Abhishake Mondal received his Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) and Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Thereafter, he received a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph. D.) degree in Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Rodrigue Lescouëzec and Dr. Hab. Yves Journaux at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), Paris, France, in 2013. Following this, he worked as a Postdoctoral fellow with Professor Miguel Julve and Professor Francisco Lloret Pastor at the Universitat de València, Institut de Ciéncia Molecular (ICMOL), Valencia, Spain. He then took up another Postdoctoral fellowship with Professor Annie K Powell at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, Karlsruhe, Germany in 2014 before moving to Bordeaux, France, where he worked as a Postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Hab. Rodolphe Clérac at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal, CNRS, University of Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France. During this time, he got an opportunity to work in collaboration with eminent Nobel Laureate Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, the University of Strasbourg, France. In 2017, Dr. Mondal was offered the position of Assistant Professor at the Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He is a member of the young researcher’s team for the COST Action of Molecular Spintronics (MolSpin) (2016-2020) funded by the European Commission. He is also a Steering committee member of The Indo-French Laboratory of Solid-State Chemistry (LAFICS) since 2018. Dr. Mondal has received several awards and recognitions, some of which include the Young Researchers Award from the 15th International Conference on Molecule-Based Magnets, 2016 at the Fukuoka University, Fukuoka, Japan, the NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award for the year 2021 and the INSA Medal for Young Scientists- 2021 in the field of Chemical Sciences. His current research interest is focused on the design and synthesis of stimuli-responsive Molecular Materials and Switches with potential for application in Switches, Sensors, Molecular spintronics, stimuli-responsive liquid crystals, Switchable Perovskites, etc.
