About
He obtained his graduation in Fisheries Science and Ph.D. in Veterinary Medicine majoring in Immunology. During his post-graduation, he worked on the development of rapid diagnostic kits and vaccines for aquatic animal pathogens in India and South Korea. In his post-doc, he worked on the effect of tryptophan metabolites on collagen-induced arthritis using mouse model; generation and use of iPSCs (bovine, porcine, mouse, and human) as donor cells for SCNT (bovine & porcine) and rejuvenating aged oocytes (mouse); and hepatic differentiation of hiPSC/hESCs to develop cell therapy products and drug metabolism models. During the past decade, he is working with eminent scientists and clinicians from South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom and India to develop cell/stem cell therapy products to treat orthopedic disorders, liver disease and 3D cell culture systems for drug metabolism and toxicity studies. Currently, he is being involved understanding the role of human microbiome/microbiota, nutrition, metabolites and (micro-) environment in human health and disease. He has experience of teaching Immunology, Nutritional Immunology, Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine and Proteomics courses to post-graduate students. Moreover, he has worked with multiple companies as a researcher & manager of R&D division and technical advisor for designing and construction of research laboratories and clean rooms in India and abroad. He has served as a member in various capacities in academia, administration and industry.
Areas of Research Interest:
• Generation of human iPSCs (normal and Patient/disease-specific) and their
utilization in the systematic understanding of disease mechanisms and regenerative medicine.
• Development of hiPSCs derived hepatocytes like cells/hepatocytes spheroids and organoids culture (3D models) for disease, drug metabolism, and toxicity studies.
• Development and validation of cell and cell-derived products for the regeneration of damaged cartilage, bone, and skin.
• Role of human microbiome/microbiota, microenvironment and nutrients in health and disease.
