About
Chaitanya Kumar Suddapalli received B.Sc. degree in mathematics, physics, and electronics from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, India, in 2003, and M.Sc. degree in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Guwahati, India, in 2006. He received Ph.D. degree in photonics with “Excellent Cum Laude with Honours” from ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, Spain, in 2012, for his thesis on high-power, fiber-laser-pumped optical parametric oscillators from the visible to mid-infrared. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at ICFO during 2012-2015 and Research Fellow during 2015-2017. He was a Visiting Research Associate at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), USA in 2016 and a Torres-y-Quevedo Fellow at Radiantis during 2017-2020 and a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow at ICFO during 2021-2022. He is currently a Reader at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Hyderabad, India since 2022. His research interests include fiber-based optical frequency conversion sources and continuous-wave and ultrafast optical parametric oscillators from the ultraviolet to mid-infrared. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed and invited papers in leading international journals in Photonics, with greater than 1730 citations, and has presented in excess of 150 contributed, post deadline and invited papers at major international conferences such as CLEO-USA and CLEO-Europe. Through out his career, he worked on several funded projects with active international collaborations. Some of his research works have been highlighted in Laser Focus World, Nature Photonics and Optica. He received the ICFO Ph.D. thesis award in 2013 and UPC extraordinary Ph.D. thesis award in 2014 for his outstanding contributions to applied research during his doctoral studies. Further, he was selected for the prestegious 66th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting in 2016 and is the recipient of theIvan P. Kaminow Outstanding Early Career Professional Prize in 2020. He is a professional member of the Optical Society of America, The International Society for Optics and Photonics and European Physical Society. Further, he served on the technical committee of an international symposium on nonlinear optics, Mid-infrared Coherent Sources (MICS-2018, 2020), EPS-QEOD Europhoton conference - 2018,2020, 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting and currently serving on the conference committee of SPIE Photonics West. He also served as an outreach project manager at the Knowledge and Technology Transfer office of ICFO.
