About
Vigneshwaran S A is an Assistant Professor of Social Work in the Department of Social Work at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bangalore Central Campus, India. He was a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Social Work in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Central University of Tamil Nadu. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Zoology from The American College affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University in 2006, followed by a Master's degree in Social Work (Medical & Psychiatry) from the same institution in 2009. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Social Work, with a focus on road safety and post-trauma care for road injury victims.
Before joining academia, Vigneshwaran worked as a Community Mental Health Social Worker for the Shant Manas Trust from 2009 to 2018. In this role, he helped promote mental health awareness and treatment in rural areas of Madurai. He also assisted social work and nursing students in their placement training and conducted skill development programs.
Vigneshwaran's research interests include road safety, post-trauma care for road injury victims, social interventions for mental illness, early intervention in psychosis, cultural understanding of mental illness, and yoga and mental health. He has published several research articles in indexed journals and edited a book on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in India. He has also presented papers at various national conferences and symposiums.
