About
Prof. Jagannath Roy is an Assistant Professor (Grade-I) in the Department of Mathematics, National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW), India. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from NIT Durgapur (2018), an M.Sc. from IIT Madras (2012), and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics from Jadavpur University (2010). His research interests include Decision Theory, Fuzzy Set Theory, Optimization, and Transportation & Logistics Management.
His research develops and applies fuzzy decision models and optimization-based decision support for sustainability-oriented logistics and supply-chain problems. He has 24 research publications (along with 2 conference papers and 2 book chapters), with articles appearing in notable journals such as Annals of Operations Research, Expert Systems with Applications, Environment, Development and Sustainability, and the Journal of Industrial Information Integration. He serves as an Editor, Scientific Reports (SCIE-indexed Q1 journal) and an Editor of the Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Numerical Optimization in Engineering and Sciences (NOIEAS-2024) (Scopus-indexed).
He has reviewed 100+ manuscripts (30+ journals and conferences). He serves as Principal Investigator (PI) of an ANRF-sponsored ARG-MATRICS-based project on Humanitarian Logistics and Disaster Management [2025–2030]. As a PI, he also completed an institute-supported project on multi-criteria optimization of sustainable logistics management in uncertain paradigms [2021–2023]. At NIT Warangal, he teaches a broad portfolio of UG&PG courses, including Computational Methods for Optimization, Optimization Techniques, Decision Methods for Management, and core calculus/linear algebra offerings. He supervises doctoral research (four current Ph.D. scholars; one Ph.D. awarded) and contributes to departmental academic and administrative responsibilities, including committee service and as Professor-in-charge of timetable coordination. His honors include the Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship (2019) and DST-INSPIRE awards for Higher Education (2010) and Ph.D. Research (2013). He also contributes to academic capacity-building as Organizing Secretary of NOIEAS-2024 and as coordinator of several workshops, Short-Term Training Programs, and faculty development programs.
