About
I wish to introduce myself, Gopichand Gutti, a strong Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry research professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology, Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, INDIA.
My Ph.D. research work involved design and development of novel chemical entities by fragment and scaffold based modern medicinal chemistry approaches. The synthesized compounds were characterized by analytical techniques (FT-NMR, FT-IR, HPLC, LC-MS/HRMS) and biologically evaluated with various in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
As an EMBO short-term fellow, I have learned basic electrophysiological measurements using the two-electrode voltage clamp technique. In this collaborative work with Prof. Michael Hollmann in the Department of Biochemistry I - Receptor Biochemistry at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany, I have evaluated GluN2B-selective NMDA receptor antagonism profiles of some new chemical entities.
Apart from this, I am having two years of industrial experience after my master’s as a Research Associate in synthesis division at Jubilant Chemsys Ltd,. India, division of Jubilant Life Sciences Ltd.
In this effort, I found myself profoundly efficient in performing both wet and moisture sensitive multistep organic reactions along with experience in handling various analytical techniques. Specialized hands-on expertise in performing biochemical assays (Enzyme inhibition studies, PAMPA-Blood brain barrier assay, Electrophysisological studies and Cell-line based studies). Excellent manuscript writing, presentation and oral communication skills, multitasking & problem solving ability, working experience under the supervision of a group leader, handling technical challenges, scientific creativity, enthusiastic in scientific and technical discussions, dedicated to work collaboratively with cross-functional as well as cross-geographic team environment.
Currently, working as a Post-doctoral researcher within the research group of Dr. Craig A. McElroy at Division of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University, OH, USA.
My professional objective is to establish a strong career in the field of neuroscience and to strive for excellence in the field of research and development with dedication, focus, proactive approach, positive attitude, passion to utilize my knowledge and skills.
