About

Dr. Ashutosh Parab is a marine microbial ecologist and biogeochemist at the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), India. His research focuses on microbial contributions to biogeochemical cycling, carbon sequestration, and environmental sustainability in diverse marine ecosystems, including the Arabian Sea, mangroves, and coastal sediments. He specializes in high-throughput metagenomics, microbial genomics, and functional ecology to investigate carbon and nutrient fluxes, microbial community dynamics, and ecosystem functioning under seasonal and anthropogenic influences.

Dr. Parab has authored several peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals, integrating microbial diversity, functional gene analysis, and environmental parameters to explore microbial roles in carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). He is actively engaged in interdisciplinary research combining molecular tools, bioinformatics, and in situ observations to understand microbial ecosystem services in blue carbon habitats. His long-term vision is to develop microbial-based strategies for climate change mitigation and sustainable marine ecosystem management.
