About
Lam is a tenured Professor in the Institute of Tropical Aquaculture and Fisheries at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Malaysia. Prior to his professorship, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and has since developed an academic career characterized by innovation, international collaboration, and leadership in chemical and environmental engineering.
With a career spanning over 12 years in academia and research, Lam is recognized for his work in thermochemical technologies, particularly in pyrolysis, microwave heating, waste valorisation, and biomass refinery. Lam has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles in his main research areas. He has secured over 43 research grants and has developed patented technologies that have been successfully commercialized through a startup with his colleagues, Moment Alpha Sdn Bhd. His academic leadership extends beyond research, having led the strategic expansion of international programs at UMT, resulting in significant growth in student mobility and global partnerships. He currently holds visiting and adjunct professorships across Asia and Canada, and is a Fellow of the International Association for Carbon Capture.
