About
Anuj Gupta is an Assistant Professor of Writing and Rhetoric at the Department of English at the University of South Florida whose work explores how writing technologies—especially generative AI—shape writers, genres, and society. His research and teaching focus on generative AI, coding literacy, human-computer interaction, user experience design, and mixed-methods inquiry. He earned his PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Arizona, where his dissertation, Learning to Talk to Generative AI Chatbots, examined AI prompts as an emerging genre of digital literacy.
Anuj’s research has been nationally recognized for advancing the future of writing, technology, and pedagogy. He has received competitive awards from leading academic organizations, including the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW), and the Council of Writing Program Administrators (CWPA). Most recently, he received the prestigious Kenneth Bruffee Award and an honorable mention for the Ellen Nold Award, both honoring interdisciplinary contributions to rhetoric, composition, and technical communication.
His work appears in journals such as Computers and Composition, Composition Forum, Composition Studies, WPA: Writing Program Administration, Open Praxis, Academic Labor: Research & Artistry, and Thresholds in Education. He is also co-editor of the forthcoming book Digital Literacies for Human Connection (NCTE), a collection of assignment-based digital scholarship. His research, teaching, and design work—including writing apps, data dashboards, and computationally enriched curricula—have also been featured on The Big Rhetorical Podcast.
