About
Dr. Monisha Banerjee is currently Professor at the Molecular and Human Genetics Laboratory, Department of Zoology, University of Lucknow, Lucknow. She is the Founder-Director of the Institute of Advanced Molecular Genetics and Infectious Diseases. Her research interests are genetic and epigenetic association studies in T2DM, GDM, cervical cancer, and pulmonary diseases, pharmacogenetics of antidiabetic and Anticancerous treatment, and the search for newer treatment strategies. She is a Mentor to 31 Ph.D. students and several postdoctoral researchers. She has trained over 40 undergraduate and postgraduate students from other universities/institutes. Prof. Monisha Banerjee and her team have been involved in interdisciplinary research and active collaboration with medical universities/institutes and allied departments in the university. Prof. Banerjee has completed 14 major research projects and published 200 research papers in national and international journals. She has delivered several invited talks and served as chairperson or panelist in national and international conferences. She has been a Resource person in Faculty Development Programs. Prof. Banerjee and her team have contributed to the Indian Consortium for Diabetes (INDICO). She has received several awards, the most coveted being SHIKSHAK SHREE from the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Teacher Excellence Award from the University of Lucknow for research and academic contribution in higher education. She has been instrumental in preparing several national-level proposals. She was the Dean of Research at the University of Lucknow and served in various administrative positions. She is a life member of several academic bodies and has served as a Reviewer of papers and projects. Prof. Banerjee has been an inspiration for students and is a source of constant motivation and encouragement.
