About
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Neurology at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where I work at the intersection of single-cell proteomics, neurobiology, and data analysis to develop high-throughput workflows and analysis pipelines for Single-Cell Omics. My academic path began in Pondicherry University, where I pursued a Master’s degree in Biotechnology, graduating with First Class with Distinction. Eager to expand my knowledge and research capabilities, I joined the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) for my Ph.D., where I focused on Meningioma Brain Tumors. My research efforts were recognized with the Dr. Gargi Vishnoi Memorial Prize for the Best Ph.D. Thesis, a milestone that reinforced my dedication to translational research. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for integrating Omics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning to address complex biological challenges. My work has led to the publication of multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, copyrights, and patents, all centered around improving clinical research outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I actively contributed to government-funded research projects, which earned me an Institutional Appreciation Certificate for my dedicated efforts in combating the crisis. One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been my involvement in developing cutting-edge bioinformatics tools and databases. I led the development of BrainProt, India’s first brain disease omics database, and co-developed tools like CoVProt, IBPM, PhosphoMap, Brain Disease Marker Curator, and Clustome. My research in neurobiology also led to the identification and patenting of a biomarker panel for grade-specific diagnosis of Meningioma Brain Tumors, a step forward in precision medicine. Beyond research, I have always been passionate about teaching and mentorship. I have extensive experience in traditional classrooms and have also taught on online platforms like NPTEL MOOC (funded by MHRD). In 2023, I was recognized as one of the Most Valuable Teaching Assistants and have contributed as an expert in omics data analysis in numerous national and international workshops. One of my most memorable experiences was representing IIT Bombay at the Inter-IIT Scientific Conclave in 2023, where I won a gold medal, competing against over 15 IITs across India. Currently, at the Steen Lab, I lead the Single-Cell Proteomics research project, where my work focuses on developing high-throughput quantitative assays, integrated analysis pipelines for single-cell omics, and user-friendly tools for rapid single-cell analysis. This research is not just an extension of my academic journey, it is a step toward revolutionizing the way we analyze and interpret proteomics data at the single-cell level, with the ultimate goal of advancing personalized medicine and neurodegenerative disease research.
