About
Sajeev Philip joined as an Assistant Professor at CAS, IIT-Delhi in November 2021. Before joining CAS, he was a visiting associate scientist at NASA Academic Mission Services by Universities Space Research Association at NASA Ames Research Center (2019-2021). Sajeev started at NASA Ames Research Center as a NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) fellow (2016-2019). He received his PhD in Physics from Dalhousie University in Canada (2015), and his MSc in Physics (2007) and BSc in Physics (2005) from the University of Kerala.
Sajeev's research interests are broadly related to understanding Earth's climate and global surface air quality, by estimating global greenhouse gas fluxes (Carbon Cycle and Greenhouse Gases Science), and by investigating the public health impacts attributable to ambient fine particulate matter (aerosols) and trace gas exposure (Global Surface Air Quality Research). Global chemical transport modeling (GEOS-Chem model) and satellite-based remote sensing are used as tools for these research efforts. His current research projects are aligned with Science Team goals of NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory satellites (OCO-2 and OCO-3) and NASA's Aura satellite.
