About
Dr. Rahul Joshi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, School of Media & Communication Studies, Galgotias University, Uttar Pradesh, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Media Studies from Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad, in December 2022. He obtained his Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, where he was awarded the University Gold Medal for securing the first position in the postgraduate programme. Dr. Joshi has over 15 years of professional experience, including more than 10 years in academia and 62 months (over five years) of full-time experience in the media industry. Prior to joining Galgotias University, he served as an Assistant Professor at the School of Media Studies & Humanities, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad, for over seven years. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to teaching, research, curriculum development, academic administration, student mentoring, and industry-academia engagement.
His academic and professional expertise encompasses Radio Journalism, Television Production, Digital Media, Multimedia Communication, and Media Education. His teaching and research interests include Radio Production, Television Production, Digital Journalism, Digital Media, Artificial Intelligence in Media, Health Communication, Media Technologies, Communication Studies, and Emerging Media. Dr. Joshi has published more than 90 scholarly works, including research papers, review articles, conference papers, and book chapters, in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. He has presented his research at several national and international conferences and actively contributes to collaborative and interdisciplinary research in the fields of media, communication, and digital technologies. He also serves as a reviewer for several IEEE international conferences, contributing to the peer-review process and promoting high-quality research in media, communication, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies.
Before entering academia, Dr. Joshi built a distinguished career in the media industry. He worked as an Anchor-cum-Assistant Producer with leading national Hindi and English news channels, including ANI, India News, NewsX, APN News, News18 Network, and Zee News, where he was involved in television news production, anchoring, editorial planning, newsroom operations, and broadcast content development. In addition, he served as a Radio Presenter and Production Executive with All India Radio (AIR) for five consecutive years, gaining extensive experience in radio broadcasting, programme production, scripting, presentation, and audio content development. Dr. Joshi's unique blend of academic scholarship and professional media experience enables him to bridge theory with practice in journalism and media education. He is committed to fostering innovation in teaching, conducting impactful interdisciplinary research, mentoring future media professionals, and strengthening academia-industry collaboration. His work continues to contribute to advancements in journalism, broadcasting, digital communication, media technologies, and the evolving landscape of emerging media.
