Sheikh A. Umar, Ph.D.
University of Wisconsin-Madison, Government Medical College, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, University of Kashmir
About
Sheikh Umar Ahmad, originally from the picturesque valley of Kashmir in the foothills of the Himalayas, holds a doctoral degree in Sciences (Biotechnology and Molecular Biology) from the Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad, India. He completed his Ph.D. research in 2021 at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu & Kashmir, under the mentorship of Dr. Sheikh Tasduq Abdullah. During his doctoral studies, Umar focused on understanding the interplay between autophagy and the DNA damage response in regulating ultraviolet-(B)–induced skin photodamage. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Wisconsin-Madison, United States. His research now centers on unraveling the molecular genetics of papillomaviruses.
