About
Dr. Narendra Kumar is a Professor (Research) in the Department of Biotechnology at the Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET), Greater Noida, India. With an extensive academic and research background, he has made significant contributions to the fields of environmental biotechnology, microbial bioremediation, nanobiotechnology, and sustainable wastewater treatment. His research integrates microbiological, chemical, and engineering principles to develop eco-friendly technologies for pollution control and industrial process optimization.
Dr. Kumar has successfully executed and guided several nationally and internationally funded research projects, including those supported by the U.P. Pollution Control Board, Deanship of Scientific Research (KKU, Saudi Arabia), Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (Government of Gujarat), IAR Seed Grant, and SHODH Fellowship (Government of Gujarat). His projects have focused on diverse themes such as ambient air quality monitoring, removal of emerging contaminants and industrial dyes, microbial–nanoparticle-based wastewater treatment systems, and microfluidic profiling of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
He has authored and edited several internationally recognized books with reputed publishers including Wiley–Scrivener Publishing (USA), CRC Press (Taylor & Francis Group, USA), Nova Science Publishers (USA), Springer Nature (Singapore), and Deep Science Publishing (India). Some of his notable publications include Microbes and Sustainable Agriculture (2018), Role of Photosynthetic Microbes in Agriculture and Industry (2018), Role of Microbes in Industrial Products and Processes (2022), Nano-Bioremediation for Wastewater Treatment (2025), Biotechnology Lab Techniques: Culture Media, Microscopy, and Microbial Analysis (2025), and Emerging Toxic Contaminants: Detection Technologies for Mitigation and Remediation (forthcoming, 2026).
Dr. Kumar has contributed extensively to research papers, book chapters, and review articles in journals and volumes published by Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, and CRC Press. His publications span topics such as microbial biofilms for textile wastewater treatment, thermophilic bacterial degradation of organic pollutants, fungal siderophores in plant–microbe interactions, and bioethanol production from lignocellulosic waste. His collaborative works in Polymer Testing, Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Food Sciences, and Journal of Experimental Biology and Agricultural Sciences highlight his active engagement in applied environmental and industrial microbiology.
Through his interdisciplinary and collaborative research, Dr. Narendra Kumar continues to advance the frontiers of bioprocess technology, microbial resource recovery, and nano-enabled bioremediation.
