Dr. J. Shankaraswamy is faculty member working as Assistant Professor at College of Horticulture, Mojerla, Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (SKLTSHU), graduated in Horticulture from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University in 2005 and secured ICAR national fellowship for his Masters in Post-Harvest Technology and he moved to Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya, West Bengal as a Post-graduate student in Post-harvest technology of horticultural crops. He received Ph.D. in horticulture, specialization in Fruit Science from the Junagadh Agricultural University, Gujarat in 2013. Prior to Joining the SKLTSHU as faculty, Dr. Shankaraswamy was working with Keventer Agro as Post Harvest technology expert in association with Parley Agro, from 2007-2008. From 2008-2009, He worked as Senior Researcher in Directorate of Medicinal Aromatic Plants Research Under the project of National Medicinal Plant Board and he served several institutes as Assistant Professor in Amity International Centre for Post-Harvest Technology, Amity University, Noida, Lovely Professional University, Punjab, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Affiliated College (Adhiparasakthi Horticultural College). He also served as Associate Professor in Baru Sahib University, Himachal Pradesh. He has been consultant to DIVINIA, United States of America, Alankar Nursery, Gujarat, Akali Farms, Tamil Nadu. He is specialist in value addition and Post-Harvest Engineering and process technology of Horticultural commodities and expert in medicinal and aromatic plants and essential oil extraction and value addition and Horticulture therapy. He is chancellor’s Gold medalist in Horticulture, National Award winner of National Horticulture talent search for food security issues in India and Gilbert ling award winner in Europe for natural product formulations theory and concepts with EZ water to prevent life style diseases, recipient of Adarsh Vidya Saraswati Rashtriya Puraskar from Global Management Council, Ahmadabad, India, Best senior researcher award (Male) in 2nd International Academic and Research Excellence awards 2020 by GISR. He is expert in multidisciplinary science related to horticultural biotechnology, Nano biotechnology, chemo informatics and IPR. His main theme areas of research and goal for future is Natural farming, natural product formulation and chemistry and drug discovery for different life style diseases. He is the pioneer in making green chilli powder without any chemical means and patented this product for commercialization and developed technology for the early induction of flowering in mango by using seaweed extract. He developed and popularized the technologies in utilization of fruits and vegetable wastes for cosmeceuticals and personal care products formulation and development process by television shows and developed alternative methods for ripening of fruits to eliminate carbide ripening and he introduced “Enripe” Technology and Carbide ripening detection as well as dehydration technology for dried fig with low glycemic index for diabetic patients through TV shows, radio program and newspaper. He is founder of three registered trademarks, viz. PLANTAESSENCE, PRAKRUTIK HORTICULTURE PLANET, DRAVYAGUNA BHOJNAGHAR. Dr. J. Shankaraswamy guided 3 PhD and 5 M.Sc. Students in need-based research and inculcated entrepreneurial qualities in students and several students established their own startups. He has written more than Ten Books and book chapters as first author in international books in the field of Horticulture and is credited with more than 30 publications in various international Journals. Presently he is developing Post Harvest Lab and model farm for sustainable horticulture by using natural landscape under world bank funded project.
