Field of interest: theoretical astrophysics. Main results on Stellar Dynamics: theory of phase-space distribution functions, potential theory, relaxation phenomena, construction of dynamical models of galaxies with dark matter halos, with special attention to the formation, structure, and evolution of elliptical galaxies and their Scaling Laws (such as for example the Fundamental Plane). Main results on Fluid Dynamics: structure and evolution of the X-ray emitting hot gaseous coronae of elliptical galaxies, in presence of stellar feedback from supernovae and stellar winds, accretion phenomena and feedback from supermassive black holes at the center of stellar spheroids, construction of equilibrium models for the gaseous coronae of disk galaxies and study of galactic fountains.
