About
I am a doctoral scholar in the Department of Sociology at Tezpur University, India. My research examines how intersecting structural axes constrain and shape the everyday socio-environmental negotiations of agrarian communities inhabiting in the hazard prone fluvial margins of Brahmaputra valley, Assam. Particularly, I investigate how these social hierarchies (re)produce differential vulnerabilities to climate hazards. In response to these structural constraints, my work elucidates whether indigenous practices rooted in the use of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) enable livelihood diversification and foster collective resilience, or whether such knowledge is undermined by the very inequities it seeks to navigate.
